4th Annual RECYouth Multimedia Festival

AUGUST 23rd, 2007
4th Annual RECYouth Multimedia Festival : Made in NY
Four short years ago, the humble seeds of the first RECYouth Multimedia Festival were planted at Harlem’s Jackie Robinson REC Center. We’ve since blossomed into the 4th Annual RECYouth Multimedia Festival: Made-in-New York, with support from the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. This growth and support has allowed RECYouth to expand its scope and vision; handling more submissions than we’ve ever had before and adding musical performances and photo gallery to the multimedia mix. As always, the festival boasts the year’s best youth-produced films from all five boroughs, selected by the distinguished 2007 Summer Youth Board. The Youth Board has decided to imbue this year’s festival with a Film Noir theme, lending a sense of cinematic drama and air of sophistication.

Hosted in the stunningly beautiful 436-seat Directors Guild of America Theater, the Festival kicks off with a reception catered by IZZE Natural Sodas, Robert’s American Gourmet and Chipotle Grill. Mocktails in hand, attendees schmooze with panache and peruse the gallery of photographs taken by this year’s Sony RECYouth Spiderman Photography collaboration, the Sunset Park Girl’s Tech Club, and other talented RECYouth photographers.

Once sated by the art and the apps, Festival attendees move on to the main event, taking to their velvet seats. The show features two live musical performances by Crown Heights Live and the Sunset Park Crew, opening remarks, and of course, the best youth produced short films New York has to offer. Immediately following the music performances and film program, the Award Ceremony honors the hard work of the featured filmmakers. Honorees, carefully chosen by the Youth Board, are awarded plaques and other prizes, including a set visit to a major feature film, following Glen Trotiner, whose laundry list of films includes Independence Day and Phone Booth.

Not to be left empty handed, 4th Annual RECYouth Multimedia Film Festival attendees enjoy comic book giveaways, cd’s, DVD’s and more.
