What's a Video Slam?
Based on the "poetry slam", a video slam is a competitive event where youth-made films are slammed before a live audience. A youth jury will determine the top three winning films. There's also a Best-in-Slam Audience Award.

An Open Call to Youth Filmmakers
Please email rsvp@listenup.org with your name, film title and name of your organization to RSVP your film. Show up at 3:00 pm sharp at the Paley Center for Media to register... screening slots are VERY limited (you do not have to pre-register, but priority given to those who RSVP). No videos will be slammed without the filmmaker present.

Screening Formats
DV or mini-DV only. Tapes must be cued to the place you want to begin. We’ll screen 3 minutes of your film.

No Purchase Necessary
EVERYBODY is invited to come, even if you didn’t make a film. Admission is absolutely free, the SLAM starts at 4:00 pm sharp. Filmmakers must register at 3:00 pm.

Prizes & Awards
There are prizes for the top three jury picks and the Audience Award for Best-in-Slam. Don’t be surprised if the audience is showered with prizes as well.

What is the Urban Visionaries Festival?

Come join the growing community of youth media makers, organizations and activists on Thursday April 10th and 11th at the Paley Center for Media in Manhattan.
