: 2009 Youth-Powered Video Institute
EVC's Youth Powered Video Institute is only two weeks away- its not to late
to register!
In this five-day intensive, experiential institute, educators learn
production skills and practical strategies for integrating video production
into the classroom.
At EVC, we believe there is no better way to teach students the power of story telling and community inquiry than to give them the tools to become researchers, producers, authors, and editors. We also believe there is no better way for teachers to develop the skills needed to implement this inquiry-based method than for them to experience it themselves as hands-on learners.
Based on 25 years of Educational Video Center's award-winning youth media programs, the Youth-Powered Video Institute provides teachers with a repertoire of proven teaching techniques and basic production skills to engage students in learning and increase their literacy and academic skills.
This training is ideal for teachers who want to use
video as a tool to:
1) ENGAGE young people though a student-centered approach that places their
ideas, perspectives and knowledge at the center of their learning;
2) AMPLIFY the voices of students through 21st century literacy skills such
as critical thinking and writing with text, image, and sound
3) CONNECT the community to their classrooms by through exploring causes and
solutions to social issues relevant to students' lives
