My Listen Up!

Deadline: 27 June 2009

Over 100 New York City-area youth will gather at the New School to showcase their use of digital media and technology, and to learn from a panel of professionals including representatives from CNET, the Cartoon Network, game designers, iPhone programmers and many more!

The afternoon will feature: a game design competition, a youth project fair, a college and career readiness fair. Throughout the day, youth will be showing their work and engaging in a city-wide dialogue about the role of new media and technology in their lives and on society. Participants will be demonstrating a wide variety of digital media, such as digital comics, serious game designs, animated movies, assistive technology projects, DIY tech support, and more. Participants will meet in small groups with professionals to explore life and work options across the digital media and technology landscape.

The (o.o) festival has been developed through a unique grass-roots collaboration amongst a small number of NYC youth-serving organizations (MOUSE, Global Kids, the New York Public Library, Parsons Academy and PetLab) to address the needs for cross-institutional collaboration and to provide the much needed face-to-face venue for youth to connect across digital media and technology projects.

Where:

The Festival will take place at The Parsons School for Design on the 5th Floor of Wollman Hall Entrance is at 66 W. 12th St, between 5th and 6th Ave., just a few blocks southwest of Union Square.
