SCREENINGS > April 10 &11, 2008
Starting at 10am
The Paley Center for Media
25 West 52nd St, New York (between 5th and 6th Aves: E, V trains to 5th Ave/53rd St.)

The festival showcases fiction, documentary, and experimental videos created by an international crew of young filmmakers who explore issues affecting young people today. All the work screened in the festival is created by teens; entries are reviewed and selected by a volunteer committee of young people who critique and celebrate the work of their peers. This year’s pieces will be presented according to three themes:

Hard Knock Life (04/10, 10am-12pm & 04/11, 4-6pm)
It’s a hard-knock life for young people living today. Whether they are battling homelessness, a learning disability or the pressure to fit in, the subjects in these films continue to persevere against all odds. This screening package explores youth’s persistence and determination to overcome their problems and make it through life.

Politically Incorrect (04/10, 1-3pm & 04/11, 10am-12pm)
Whether it’s politics, the environment, or the role of the media, in today’s world there is rarely consensus about what is right or wrong. With no easy answers, the films in this section explore multiple perspectives on serious issues that effect the lives of people living all over the globe.

Eye of the Beholder (ONLY ONE SCREENING! 04/11, 1-3pm)
People are often judged unfairly by their appearance. Even though it’s wrong, many people find themselves discriminating against complete strangers and jumping to incorrect conclusions. These films ask us to rethink our preconceived notions of other people.
