Michael Tabegna

Michael
Tabegna, a French teacher at Baltimore School for the Arts for
over twenty years, knows how to grab students' attention and connect
with them on their level. In fact, he knew he wanted to be a French
Teacher since he first studied the language in middle school.
His undying passion for the language, culture and spirited discipline,
keeps students interested, engaged and responsive. Using his whole
body, Michael snaps his fingers, sobs in despair, and does whatever
it takes to keep his students engaged. An unapologetic disciplinarian,
he retains control of the class by speaking English when a rule
has been broken, so that there is no confusion.
Tabegna distinguishes himself by taking time during each class
to answer individual questions and addresses the needs of each
student. He taught the late artist Tupac Shakur, and actor Jada
Pinkett Smith. Not only does his performance grab the class’
attention, but also his high expectations for every student, ability
to connect and keep the attention of each youth, makes Michael
Tabegna a legend at Baltimore School for the Arts.
