Alienated: Undocumented Immigrant Youth

Alienated: Undocumented Immigrant Youth

In 'Alienated,' we meet Licia, a determined young woman from St. Vincent who commutes from Brooklyn to New Jersey to work as a nanny for $4 an hour. Meanwhile, anti-immigrant groups rally around lobbying efforts that seek to impose ever harsher policies and to “protect our borders.” Through interviews with individuals on both sides of the immigration debate, 'Alienated' examines what it means to be young, able and 'illegal' in America.

I am moved by this video because I feel for the immigrants who were brought here when they were little, heck, I am one. Its a very tough issue that needs to be more focused on and people need to realize that we are ALL IMMIGRANTS here in the United States of America, that's what makes this country so great, its diversity. Everyone migrated from different areas of the world except the Native Americans, we need to resolve this issue and come together to appreciate this beautiful country, the United States of America

I really appreciate this film and I think its an universal message that every immigrant can connect to...the verite cinema aspect of the film was very well shot and the interview with Lucia was heart felt and REAL! thanks!

What an amazing video. I had an encounter with a "friend" yesterday where she said much the same thing as the woman who was for Proposition 187. I don't think I can be friends with her anymore. Thank you for showing me Lisa's story.

Fantastic piece! I think your message is extremely relevant to what's going on right now in the US concerning immigration, etc. I also like how you included the broad issue of immigration, but incorporated the story of Licia to help mold your message. Some audio issues within your piece that could be fixed, but other than that, editing was great!

As much as i love this film, i get so angry when i see people acting this way. great documentary, great idea, great execution. very powerful and made the right (so to speak) people look foolish. I also love how the minutmen guys are so smart, they need two hats to cover their heads.

I love how Licia's story framed the interviews with the anti-immigrant activists. Excellent camera work.
