My Listen Up!
For Frances

For Frances

This experimental video uses text, music and symbolic images to represent a feeling of being inside of the characters mind. The black and white images on the left hand side of the screen show a visual picture of what the main character is thinking. The second frame shows a poem being written as if it were in a journal. The juxtaposition of the two frames allows the viewer to see the internal and external of the character.

Beautiful shooting. Lovely cropping of images, use of split screen and chalk written text. I enjoyed the juxtaposition between images and writing, but wonder if the text needs to be on screen at all times, and if there could be breaks at times. The images are beautiful, but I would also enjoy more connections to the text.

I enjoyed your Graphics , the chalkboard was so cool! My only Criticism is when you showed the line dancing twice the effect suddenly at the end distracted me .

Visually this piece is lovely. I like the split frames and the use of black and white. Nice editing as well. The piece seemed a bit slow at times (perhaps with following the handwriting) and sometimes I had trouble reading the writing either because it was off frame or the lighting was off. All in all, I liked it and look forward to seeing more videos from you!
